You make it sound like i said they are the only ones that do it. But, not believing in religion is not a desire, its a product of logic. It has been disproven time and again for anyone who wishes to see it, so only the desire to believe it can drive this logic you say they follow. Wich is unlogical because it has a base on desire.
They believe because they want to. Wether its true or likely doesnt seem to matter, because this desire makes them want to believe in it, whatever it is.

Continuous disproof is not the same thing as proof of the negative. Basic philosophy. What he's saying is that religious claims have been tested repeatedly and found to be false or untestable.
