Soul Sacrifice is nothing like Monster Hunter and definitely not easy.

I can see why it wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea, at first I was very WTF? to it, however after a couple of hours it clicked and is now one of my favourite games so far this year.

Soul Sacrifice's biggest problem on the review front is actually probably the very fact they went into their reviews with expectations that it was going to be a Monster Hunter game. I'm really glad it isn't.
