To answer your questions: The better screen is on the 3000. Less ghosting, better color. Con is that you sometimes see visible scanlines, to which you get used quickly. The longer battery life is on the 2000, thanks to a worse screen. Analog nub is the same. UMD's run the same. The E1000 has a screen that has colors like the 2000, but it doesn't ghost like crazy like the 2000. If you want new - it ain't bad. Cons are that the battery is not replaceable, and the battery sensor is imprecise, giving you measures only in battery bars rather than in percentages and estimate of how much longer it can run. Mono sound unless you go for headphones, no physical brightness button - you gotta change in XMB, which can't be done ingame. My suggestion is that you get the 3000, and get LCFW on it. That is, custom firmware side-by-side with sony's firmware. It is executed, and once you turn your PSP off, you are back to sony's firmware. It gives you the advantages of: 1) You can rip your UMD to PC and play it from memory card - faster loading in games, longer battery life from lack of a need to run the UMD drive. 2) You can play any PS1 game you have in your actual library. Rip to PC, convert for PSP, play. 3) You can get plugins that increase your battery life. Though that involves a little bit of work with the CFW. That seems to cover it. Thanks for an extremely interesting reply. I didn't realise both the 2000 & 3000 had both positive and negative screen issues. I'm not quite sure I understand what ghosting is yet, but you believe that it's far worse than the scan lines of the 3000? I must admit, I think scan lines would bother me, so I'll have to have a think about which I'd dislike more.
You helped me rule out E1000 though. Between the lack of wifi combined with the not replacable battery & mono sound, I think that one's out :P
