Don't believe everything you hear. Yes, the echo chamber that is market analysts had largely agreed that iPhone was reaching saturation, without understanding anything about the actual market. Look at the activation numbers from Verizon a few days earlier and you'll find that iPhone sales there grew dramatically, which makes a lot of sense given the absurdly high customer satisfaction ratings it earns year after year. Also, Samsung has been getting the "slow growth" treatment in the press lately, but it's hard to say what the truth is because Samsung rarely publishes any unit sales (which has become the norm for the phone industry except Apple).
Also, Apple does report Mac numbers every single quarter, and they are frequently mentioned in the news, just not as prominently as the iPhone numbers (rightly so, as the iPhone is the main revenue generator). What on Earth makes you think these aren't reported?
