JRPGs. WRPGs, while technically much more true Role Playing Games, don't really appeal to me. The extra 'freedom' just makes me lose interest quickly detracts from the story and character development. Also, while there are exceptions, too many WRPGs are still stuck in the D&D/LotR art style. Even those that aren't are usually artistically bland and aim for realism over style. The graphics may be good, but if it's not something I'm interested in looking at, that doesn't really matter.
The more straightforward story telling, creative art styles, and character development/relationships draw me to JRPGs. I also love the quirky humor found in many of them.
Either way, I really think the comparison is a little unfair. There are great games in both genres, but the bottom line is they really are two separate genres. It's really unfortunate that at some point way-back-when these two genres both got labeled "RPGs." It leads to so many discussions about which is better when there's really no reason to compare the two other than an arbitrary label. They're really not much more similar than platformers and FPS.
