PS2: Final Fantasy X -- This is the game that turned me into a console gamer. I was strictly a PC gamer only before I saw my buddy playing this on his ps2. I fell in love and bought it soon after. I have never looked back and now FF is my favorite franchise ever.
Honorable mention on the ps2: .hack//G.U. vol. 1-3....... I love the .hack series. It has a wonderful story, great depth, incredibly unique concept, and great characterization. Hopefully "The World" comes to the ps3 eventually.
360: Lost Odyssey -- Great gameplay and amazing characters. You really fall in love with the group. Hell, you might even shed a few tears during this game.
I haven't played too many pre-ps2 RPG's...I've tried going back to a few of the old dinosaurs, but can't handle them...I guess I'm a bit of a graphics whore.
