Not that I play any of those games (I don't), I'm just hoping we move in that direction. I'm tired of shooting and slicing and killing stuff. It's not that I mind violence; I play a lot of violent video games, and play UT professionally. I just wish that "killing stuff" wasn't 95% of the video game market. It makes me profoundly aware of the fact that I am included in a market dominated by 15-25 year old males -- more often the less educated ones -- with raging hormones who think things like 300 are "deep." I don't care if Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft does it; just make this market more than simply a violent playground for adolescents. I'm twenty five. I'm becoming an adult, and I'm tired of the puerile "God of Kill War Zone" type games. I want video games to mean something substantial, and these types of games aren't getting us any closer; in fact they confirm, for most adults, that video games are simply a juvenile preoccupation. There. Rant over. |
I agree. I like games based on complexity. Motorstorm is simple, but it has tons of complexity in perfecting the race... especially when racing people bent on making you loose... :D
