Well, that's a first! I actually like the idea somewhat, some of the other features are cool too. Too bad the core recipe no longer appeals to me, battle system inspired by FFXIII is just about the last thing I want for this waning series right now.

Have seen the actual battle system? It's more of a evolution of 13. You are actually putting in the command's there is no auto or anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHR3yHgXRrk

You don't need to use Auto-Battle in FFXIII.

...Sorry, I have this urge to point that out everytime someone mentions the "automatic" battles of FFXIII. About Lightning Returns, it does look like a pretty cool game. I wasn't giving two shits about this game, but the details are making me wanna play it (and XIII-2 consequently)

I never said you did. At the sme time though you musy realize there is no actual reason to not use the auto button. If an enemy is weak to fire, what are you going use?..fire, so will AI! Why waste precious seconds putting fire fire fire fire fire when you can hit auto and and let it do it for you? The only time I find myself using manual command is when using Sab,Syn or Med roles because of Ai priority. When use use Syn they tend to go Protect,Shell, vigilance in that order all the time regardless of how enemy may be attacking. What if I dont need protect just shell san Med. To sum my point up you dont have to use auto... but you might as well. Btw 13-2 is actually enjoyable. It doesnt automatically make up for lackluster 13 but its definitely more enjoyable.

I personally NEVER used Auto a single time on my entire playthrough of XIII. And I'm not using it again on the second playthrough. I just find it pointless really. I do have more fun selecting the commands manually, scrolling through the big list of abilities late in the game makes me feel fast as shit. And I have the impression that the battles actually become more dynamic if I do stuff manually. Just placebo, obviously, but still. :P

I just said that because a lot of people say the Auto-Battle is one of the worst flaws of the game, when you can just ignore it. Kinda like Gambits in FFXII, that had a similar complaint.
However, I do use the "Repeat" function A LOT.

You do know repeat is essentially the same thing as using auto right :)

I do. Kinda contracitory from myself. But in Repeat, I'm re-using the actions I selected, rather than having the AI select them for me.

No, it doesn't make sense.
