People will have Windows on a PC anyway.  Your argument is like saying my TV manufacturer is making money from my gaming, ignoring the fact I'd buy a TV anyway for watching TV, DVDs etc, like a PC owner buys Windows because they want to use the internet or print stuff or million other things that aren't gaming related.

your TV manufacturer benefits from gaming you can count on that.
There is a proven relation between TV sales, console releases or sport events.

Gaming is one of the selling points Windows has over every other OS in the market.
