Then you may want to look into Super Swing Golf. It's a quirky sports game outside the realm of the hardcore, and has more depth than the Wii Sports golf. I'd add one caveat, though: the game may prove to be hair-pullingly difficult (although you did say you're looking for "a significantly higher difficulty").
