Yes they do. Look, this is really a no-brainer industry standard:

a) Companies have been giving out devkits for pennies. You want as many developers on board (needless to say, a NEW developer has to fork out a lot of cash up front to become a developer) as you can get. If MS wants Kinect2 to be the Do-It-All, they have every interest to get as many developers on board as possible. If they simply write off the hardware (big IF, see b), they'd probably lose less than a million doing so. This is pocket change compared to dev costs of Kinect2.

b) Where does it say you own the Kinect2s in the devkits?

Did you read the link?

  • A pre-release/alpha sensor
  • A final, released sensor at launch

2x Kinect One

That's windows development for Kinect One and not consoles... for consoles the devs get the Xbox One SDK that have the Kinect One included.

Kinect One costs close to $150 for sure... MS is not giving Kinect One SDK for free... at least the SDK pays the manufacture costs of the 2x Kinect One.

And there are more bull into this AMA this one is just the biggest one lol
