Simplified explanation of how the PS4 is twice as strong graphically as the Xbox One

So how does this affect a guy like me who thinks Alan Wake and Halo 4 looked really great?

Isn't it ironic that the people who never got tired to mention how awesome Uncharted 2 / 3 or God of War looked are the very same people, who are "disappointed" that the Xbox One is "only" X-times as powerful as the PS3?
