I don't have much experience with the previous Sim City games (only the demo of SC3000), but I think Sim City 4 is great! Bought it... last year? The year before that? Anyway, I've had tons of fun with it, would have even more if I had the time. :P Anyway, I think you should buy it, I don't think there's even any catches like DRM to it.

And there are mods and other things that improve it (like cheaper hospitals or chools with better capacity and radius, for example).
