I dont think either SOny or MS are taking losses with these consoles and at these prices.

if the kinect costs as much as the xb1 to make, and they are not taking a loss. Then I think it's very stupid of m$ to bundle the kinect with every xb1. Because they could easily sell the XB1 for much cheaper than the ps4. they could even match or go cheaper than the wiiU then.

But in any case given the specs of the Xbox One i think they definitely can launch at a cheaper price than PS4, if Kinect wasnt bundled. But at the end of the day that wasnt the goal of MS. They clearly wanted to build a console entirely around Kinect and ensure that developers really start to utilise it. I don't think this was necessarily a worng decision. We will have to wait and see if it pays off.

I think Pachter was spot on with hes recent comments on Pach Attack. He said that MS is convinced in the added value of Kinect and they feel that its worth the extra investment from their side and the consumer side. But if the PS4 is outselling them in the US by a big enough margin they can easily drop Kinect and undercut the PS4.

Personally i dont see that happening. But MS really needs to start showing off Kinect...they havent done a good job of that since the reveal to be honest.
