| VGKing said: No, I am not ok with data being collected on me. If given a choice I would chose to opt-out of it. My way of opting our of it is by buying a PS4. This NSA/Government spying crap is only another reason for me to choose a PS4 over XB1.. @boldBTW, you keep tossing this term around like everyone who values their privacy is crazy. If anything, those who will willingly let corporations collect/gather/sell data on them are the crazy ones. All it takes is one hacker to leak all this data to the public. Just 1. |
You're not ok with it, and yet you game on a PS3 and post on the Internet. Probably have a camera for your PC as well, and/or use a cell phone for more than making calls. So you're clearly ok with it to a certain extent. You are willing to accept whatever is being done depending on your interest in the product. If it came out tomorrow that the US government was recording all PSN conversations, saving all PSN messages, and tracking/storing what you look at and where you go online on your PS3, you'd still play your PS3. If all that were true about PS4, you'd be buying a PS4 still.
Just look at your next reply after this one that I quoted. You say if there is a terrorist threat on PSN, Sony would alert the authorities. So Big Brother Sony is ok? It's ok for them to monitor and report to authorities when something comes up, but it's not ok for the government themselves to monitor for keywords or legally demand access to something because of a special interest? This is the main problem with this terribly written article and most of the replies in this thread. You guys understand MS is legally obligated to do all of this? And has been for awhile now? Have any of you noticed any white vans parked down the street from your houses yet? And suddenly now it goes mainstream public and suddenly your privacies are in trouble. lol
And tin foil hatters doesn't have to mean crazy. I know plenty of conspiracy theory nuts who are perfectly normal, intelligent people. I use that term because it applies perfectly to the people who are paranoid that MS is going to record their every word, movement, and thought with Kinect and sell them on Ebay to the highest bidder, or give the US government free, unfiltered, unhampered access.
I'm on pins and needles awaiting the creation of these threads:
Can we trust Google anymore?
Can we trust Yahoo anymore?
Can we trust AOL anymore?
Can we trust Facebook anymore?
Can we trust Apple anymore?
These are some of the other companies who provide information when legally required to, just like MS.
