I will always still have a decent SLR (I'm a Nikon man myself) but for snaps I use my phone all the time. This is merely a way of replicating decent zoom.

For personal use? Yeah phones have already taken over.
For professionals? Dedicated will always be the way to go.

Professionals wouldnt use a digital compact. They use a digital SLR... which is what I said. I have a Nikon SLR and I would never get rid of it.
I was talking about digital compacts when I send the end is nigh, which I thought was fairly obvious from my post.

Are they not already dead? Only people who use them now either have a brick phone or it still works from before they had a good smartphone. Can't see too many people buying them now.
