Pokemon is still being supported with cards, animes, films. The fad is over but the merchandising is still quite good with kids. It's impossible to get back the old level of popularity.
The videogames are still extremely strong because of the hugely dedicated fanbase. Pokemon is probably one of the most dedicated fanbase, with people buying console just for that game.
