General - Do you like sin? - View Post

God is said to be absolute good, and some have said that he is incapable of being 'Bad' as we define ‘bad’ to be.

So If God is omniscient, then there is NO such thing as sin....everything we think, everything we do till the day we die has been known by God before we were even born....therefore everything we do is 'Good" by our creators standard. In this case, we humans only have the illusion of 'free will' but no actual free will as our loving creator knows exactly how our lives will play out before we are even born.

As such the act of sinning and the Devil do not exist, nor does hell, as God who is absolute Good and incapable of bad could never conceive what we would deem as bad, and since he's omniscient he knows the outcome of everything he does before he does it.

The question I propose is, is God absolute good?

If we look at original Sin and how Eve ate from the tree of knowledge after being convinced by a talking Snake, the questions I would ask would be;
-Why did God ban Adam and Eve from the tree of Knowledge?
-Why even create such a tree?
-Why put the tree in a location easily accessible Eve?

God being omniscient would have known that the simple creation of tree would lead to man’s original sin, and yet not only did God creat this tree, but put it in a location easily accessible, and then informed Adam and Eve about it only to ban them from it....It was not a test of faith or obedience as God knew the outcome before they transpired. Gods actions lead to original Sin, God intended for this to happen because if it were not for the tree, Adam and Eve would have never sinned and they themselves would be perfect like God....I guess God didn't want that.

So, do I think God is absolute good or good at all?

No, God setup the dominoes that caused the original sin meaning God knows what sin is, God knows what evil is, God is jealous and self-serving being. All you have to do is look at the 10 commandments; the first 4 are all about worshiping him as the only God and which day should be dedicated to praying to him. The fact that 'Thou shalt not kill' is the 6th commandment and not the first is telling, clearly killing wasn't as important as the first commandment "I am the Lord thy God".

Hell God didn't seem to care about putting something about Slavery despite him knowing that Slavery would be such a problem...It took ration caring humans to realize that Slavery was bad, and then proceed to abolish it the best that man could at the time, does this put humans above God in regards to morals? I think so cause we humans achieved something that our supposed creator couldn’t, the abolishment of slavery to the best of our humanly abilities.

To me, religion is just a means to explain our origins and at time a means to explain what we couldn't, however, it's no longer required because Science is doing and does a much better job at explaining. Religion should then be relegated to the history of our culture, like the Gods of old, something people should know about, but not something they should worship.

In fact, if people wanna worship something, a GOD, why not worship something real and observable, the Universe. The Universe is not a being of any sort, it's not absolute good or bad, it's indifferent. it doesn't listen to or require any form of worship as there is no hell, but if it pleases you then there is not harm. At the same time the Universe is infinite and with out it we literally could not exist, once we die we will rejoin our creator as our atoms break down, heaven as it were. We have true free will, there is no scapegoat our actions and their repercussions fall solely on us whether good or bad, we are given the ultimate power on how we are perceived and remembered, empathy the greatest gift given to living creatures, hows that for a God?

My 2 cents, take it as you will :)
