Most important country in the world obviously draws attention and critisism thats not some new thing. Maybe China becomes a substitute for Russia in the future and USA becomes the shinning light of freedom it once was.
Also I doubt anime avatars have something to do with it. I was once convinced that people with a certain combination of letters on their car plates are following me I saw this combination literally everywhere several times a day. But I figuered out that I only saw them because I looked for this combination of letters.
