The Vita's saving grace is that it will outlive the 3DS. It will probably still be selling as Sony's main portable, perhaps as long as 2022, long after the 3DS has been replaced and possibly discontinued. The Vita's saving grace is that Sony swallowed the biggest loss in history to launch it, and it basically is competition for Nintendo's gen 9 hardware, not gen 8.

Actively screwing up the 3DS before it starts to gray, though? No way. I haven't seen a single idea on this thread that would actually hurt the 3DS during the next 2-4 years, when it will be doing most of it's sales and growth.

Even focusing on the Wii U won't hurt too much: Nintendo has their major 3DS titles out, and with spinoffs like SMT X FE in the pipe? Did you hear about the FE/ SMT $30 back promotion they're doing? They're practically gift-wrapping third party support. The 3DS could always use more, but it's basically outgrown the need for first party content.

Switching to Sony, things don't really change, either. If the Vita slashed it's price to match the 3DS XL, it still doesn't have a library or memory because of that proprietary memory card.

What are you going to do? Bleed on me?
