It is a trend that should really die tho, it makes no sense.

I prefer games to do it if i don't get them straight away. I just wait a few months (no longer than a year) and get the game and DLC cheap. Done this with Borderlands and Midnight Club and saved so much money. If i done this with Fallout New Vegas, i would save about £50 because of all the DLC that was made for it. 

Maybe, it shouldn't be called "game of the year" though. "Complete version" would make a better name if it ain't actually GOTY.
