People like to brag about being better looking, smarter, stronger, more successful, more wealthy, having a hotter gf/wife or having a bigger penis than others. Since most of us nerds don't have any of those qualities, having achievements is a good way to gain a bit of self-esteem.

So yes, they should include a achievement system.
