There's a very limited number of franchises that can really get there, and since he obviously isn't talking about Nintendo, about half of the possible franchises are eliminated.
The non-Nintendo 8-digit club is basically Gran Turismo, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and recently FIFA.
