JRPGs, hands down, eyes closed. No WRPG I have ever played has ever hooked me in like games such as Persona, Pokemon and many others.
I get that WRPGs let you build your own characters, but by the end of Persona 3 and 4, I actually CARED for the characters I played with. I felt like I actually truly knew and understood these characters as I knew my friends in real life. I may not have decided where their story went, but their story just grabbed me and made me a part of it. There's just nothing that compares to it. Nothing.
