I've always maintained that the difference between being a "nerd", and simply liking so-called "nerdy" things, is that nerds tend to let what they like define who they are. I like what I like, but who I am defines what I like, not the other way around.

Then again, I've never been entirely clear on why things like comic books, video games, etc. are "nerdy" in the first place. As if the only things adults are supposed to care about are sex, booze, and sports.
