I have the game and I really enjoyed it, at least for some time.
The criticism I've heard most often is that the game isn't good at teaching you certain basics of how to play the guitar correctly, so especially total beginners who plan to learn guitar that way are at danger of accustoming bad practices.
That's probably true and I guess I didn't really learn anything - but for the time I played it, I had a lot of fun.
I definitely love the general concept of using real musical instruments in games, I see great potential to stimulate the motivation of learning an istrument, and will most likely buy Rocksmith 2, hoping that they'll address some of the problems in the successor.
What I personally didn't like most was the music btw... There were just a handful of songs I really liked, and while there was a significant amount of DLC songs that I liked, they felt so overpriced that I never bought any.
