Those several exclusive JRPGs did boost sales, and the 360 even outsold the PS3 two weeks in a row.

That mainline FF was a timed exclusive in Japan, launching over a year later on 360.

The "exclusive" Monster Hunter game was a port of the PC MMO. Which is terrible and would have the sold on any platform. Keep on going though. 

Those first few  years MS really did try though. They deserved better. This really seems like a cultural situation then a gaming reason.
