Like sports fans, some people just want to identify with something and be apart of a group of like-minded people, and cheer for something that is greater then any individual person (entity).
Doesn't mean you have low self esteem, just means you have an outlet to express yourself as apart of a greater group. Being loyal to corporations is nothing new. Look at Apple.
