When do MS not have a shitload of money to invest? Without their wealth built from operating systems they would have stopped being in the industry after the first Xbox. It this brute force (throw money at it) tactic that many people don't like.
On subject, I doubt they'll do this, too late and if they do, so? To the general consumer (who bought Wii over Xbox last time) power doesn't matter. It just means it's more expensive still and will make less money for MS who have to keep the price the same now.
