Think of the Sonic-only games that sold on Wii, a console that already had a huge install baes, they sold fairly well to make profit, but nothing enough to dramatically make a difference in hardware sales figures. 2 - 3 million on a 100 million install base bro. I'm sure The Lost World will be a great game, but it's NOT going to selll systems. By that, I mean dramatically increase hardware sales, something to the scale of Mario Kart or even Zelda. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact that Sonic-only games don't dramatically push systems. They'll sell better on Wii U than on a Sony or Microsoft console no doubt though, that's likely why Sega went forward with this partnership. And how many Mario games has Nintendo sold on Wii U? One, another 2D Mario game that people aren't going to drool over. Its second will be Super Mario 3D World, a game that has a much better chance at moving systems than any Sonic game ever would, even though I personally don't really have excitement over it. |
Ur spot on, not many games will push a console on there own but a combination of games will. 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Sonic, DKC, Wind Waker, Pikmin, Wii Fit, none of those games can do it on there own but together they can push alot of consoles.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
