Oh Spurge.
It's going to be a painful holiday season for Vita on all fronts. While it may do 'alright' in Japan (whenever a new game has released it has shot up; so since there's a bit of a stream, we might see it stabilised for a while). But then everything it's up against will just be selling better. Nintendo consoles traditionally sell better over the holidays anyway - and 3DS has the two biggest guns since about 2011 in Japan; and Wii-U actually has some games for over the holidays. If PS3 gets a much needed price cut too, then...
West is a different story. Short of slashing £100+ off the price and £40+ off the memory cards, I can't see many units being shifted. A smaller price cut would provide a bump, and a bit of advertising alongside Killzone/Batman/Tearaway may help, but other than that it'll be a wash. And I think Sony are content with Vita being a PSP-from-2009-onwards-without-the-piracy if their recent actions are anything to judge by.
