Just for the record, Halo doesn't have regenerative health, but regenerative shields. If your health get damaged, you need a medikit.
Overall I agree with Resident Evil, Duke Nukem and Star Fox (But Star Fox hasn't stranded that much). I don't think Metroid M wasn't that bad, really.
And Final Fantasy...well, meh. It's such a changing saga, I don't really recall any problems with each entry being different. You say FF9 had a medieval theme, but FF6 was totally steampunk and I prefer it much better.
