The first Blu-Ray disc player available in the US market was actually made by Samsung.

Well Samsung is part of the original Blu Ray Disc Association along with Panasonic, LG, Hitachi, Sharp, Thomson, Philips, Pioneer and Sony.

So I guess that is not surprising ^^
