Wii U needs a price drop because the PS4 is just 50$ more expensive? Also because PS4 is more powerful? Wasn't the cheapest 360 at Wii's launch 299$, while Wii was 249$? 50$ difference, huge horsepower advantage for 360 (bigger horsepower difference than WiiU to PS4), more games for 360, Wii still sold better. All Wii U needs is games, and a reason for purchasing it, and you'll have people buy it, it's simple! The 50$ price tag difference will not affect much.

You have to remember the economy at the time bro. People wanted the best deal and Wii gave them innovation at the time. Packed with a good line up of games such as smash, zelda, and galaxy it was hard to pass up a Wii at that price. As time progressed that market faded and Nintendo tried to continue over to the next innovative tech piece. Unfortunately the price doesn't favor what other options are available. A 32GB Wii U at $349.99 vs a 500GB PS4 at $399.99. I really really doubt people fail to see this. A price drop would boost sales and improve the install base. It would also give Nintendo a chance to compete. Without a price drop it's not looking good. I expect a price drop around the releases of Xbox One and PS4 maybe a few months after. Good news for Nintendo is its partnership with Sega. That could be a key thing in the future.
