I think the point he is making is about the future. Microsoft were offering a way for retailers to be involved in digital through the sale of a disc. For people that choose to go digital this generation they will not buy any games from retailers as they don't have that choice. I'm off digital next gen for convenience so retailers will not be getting a penny from me. I'm ahead of most in the decision to move but the change is coming and retailers will be left out cold now. Its irrelevant now as that paths gone, perhaps in future the option will become available again in a slightly modified manner.
