It took me 5 days to complete XCOM but I like it so much that I was playing 10-12 hours every day it was amazing experience as I love tactical RPGs & this game was exactly what I was looking for atm :)
Here some advices I can give u, first of all for a first time game choose US as the county to have your home base, after that have always in mind that at every chance u have to launch satellites & cover as many countries u can, have 2 spaceships at every region (US, EU, AFRICA etc) ready to intercept UFOs at all times, intercepted flying saucers is the best farming spots for useful materials, specimens & money! capture alive 1 of every alien type u can find & research them or if they r biological specimens interrogate them this will unlock nice updates that will help u a lot in the later game, & last I will give u an advice of what classes to choose for your main squad this is my personal preference but know that I have spent a lot of time in game & after a lot of testing I know very well what is the most effective composition, 3 ASSAULT, 1 SNIPER, 1 HEAVY, 1 SUPPORT with this setup I literally destroy the last map/bosses for fun.
