How do Japanese games have heart but not western games?

Japanese have lost their heart and soul I believe as well, in their effort to westernize games. But games like Castlevania, Mega Man, Radiant Silvergun, Super Mario, Panzer Dragoon, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Contra, Resident Evil, Act Raiser, Snatcher, etc. etc. The Saturn had tons of soul as well, for example. It's just not the same today with generic shooters like Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty etc. etc. They're not bad games but they are super generic and expendable.

You are listing games from a decade or more ago. Resident Evil is a shooter too now. At the same time you are forgeting that the west gave us games like The Last of Us, Journey, Flower, Sly Cooper, Sound Shapes, LBP, Outland, Enslaved, etc.

Resident Evil is survival horror again, not just on 3DS because they brought it to HD Consoles & PC to promote the game Resident Evil: DDD (3DS exclusive).

When it comes to western games, I'm personally more into Mass Effect & Bioshock, while he is more into God of War & so fort.

The Japanese is just giving us more with more quality is all, like Bravely Default & Project X Zone & Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure & Sonic Lost World & King of Pirates & Mega Man (new one) & Beyond the Labyrinth & Rodea the Sky Soldier & Youkai Watch & Dragonball Heroes: Ultimate Mission & etc. etc. etc.

That Resident Evil DDD was a rumour from one and a half year ago. It is not coming. And most of the Japanese games are considered average games. The others aren't released in Japan yet, let alone being released here.
