60fps means the game feels a lot more reactive to your input. Movies you don't control so it doesn't matter as long as the image is smooth.

Beat em ups NEED to be 60fps, games like Ninja Gaiden also greatly benefit from it as the combat flows alot better than manages your inputs a lot better for the combos.

Racing games is the other genre that greatly benefits from 60fps.

As must as people say it doesn't really matter, there is a reason most of the best selling games are 60fps. For Call of Duty it's the reason people prefer how it plays, even if they can't see it.

I can instantly tell you whether a game is 30fps or 60fps just by looking at it. It was the Dreamcast having 60fps games that did that. At first I couldn't understand why games like F355 and Daytona USA felt so much smoother and more responsive than Metropolis Street Racer. But it was purely down to the frame rate. You can still enjoy a 30fps, but it will always be a better experience at 60fps.

I'd take 60fps over resolution and visuals any day. 30fps is just playing your games in treacle in comparison.
