Most of my friends can't wait for this game, but honestly I'm staying far, far away from it.  I hate games that are online all the time, I don't care about the minor benefits, if I pay $60 for a game I want to own it, that means playing it whenever I want, now or 10 years down the line, which obviously Destiny will become obselete when they shut the servers down.

In a way, you could say the same for pretty much every sport games and multiplayer focused FPS. Why even own today Madden 2009 ? Or an older version of Call of Duty ? Even though you can own these games forever, they are often only relevant for a limited amount of time, that is, until the next yearly version comes out.

In the end, it's not only the games that require a server to function that becomes obsolete, but pretty much every game that doesn't have an unique single player experience with it's own special world and characters.
