I really don't see it ever being remade, since it has been the most popular anime worldwide for almost a decade now (so clearly whatever they're doing, it's working) and the manga hasn't even finished. The only thing I can see happening is something similar to Dragonball Z Kai (or whatever it's called), which was pointless in my opinion. I'm fine with the anime diverging from the manga just like tv shows and movies do with books. Most of the fillers we've seen recently actually make sense as side stories even though they never happen in the manga. I too wish they had a big filler storyline instead of this mess, but I still find myself excited every Thursday for a new episode. Because of the fillers, Naruto has gone from a 10/10 to an 8/10 for me, but that's still pretty darn good. In other words, they're hurting the franchise, but not ruining it (yet). Can't say the same about poor Bleach :( |
@bolded i dont think thats a testamont to what they currently been doing but rather to the strength of the brand coming on from the original series. Just goes to show that if you produce a quality show you will have life long fans that will probably stick with you forever. As one of those fans i never thought there will ever come a day where i find myself not watching the show. That day actually came recently and i completely gave up on the anime and proceeded to read the manga. I will obviously go back every once in a while to see whats happening.
I guess some fans will see it your way and be okay with how things have turned out in shippuuden. But i know for a fact that theres quite a lot of fans who also feel similarly to the way i do. Just seems like instead of investing more into a proven series they are actually cutting down on the investment. This will backfire in the long run obviously.
And while series like naruto and bleach start to suffer...we getting shorter more focused animes that are doing really well. Ive moved more towards this kinda anime nowadays. Anime like Steins Gate, Sword Art Online, Shingeki No kyojin etc. Quality animation, story, pacing, everything. I'm not really sure how anime compete with each other or if thats even an issue but i see the trend moving more towards the shorter series. Gonna be interesting to see how that pans out.
