Thank you for a detailed response. I'm happy to see that you've been thinking this over. In regards to the first two paragraphs, how can you ignore all of the good in the world and claim that God is useless? The general belief in the Christian faith is that because of sin in the world, there's going to be both good from God and evil from Satan and/or man. I think based on your answer, I'm concluding that your arguement is basing it on the view that there is no God and that all theists are self-deluded. In that sense, you're right. There is no meaning and no answer to suffering without a God. An atheist can only logically take a nihilistic stance with his beliefs. Also, your arguement seems to undermine the fact that as an Omnipotent God, He is the only one that can assess if there are morally sufficient reasons to allow evil to happen. Now justifying a belief in God with the problem of evil is based on the fact that God is omnipotent and that He is the one that best position to assess morally sufficient reasons to allow suffering, especially long-term when there's the infinitude of heaven and hell. But we have more information that purely just the killing of innocent children which lead to the conclusion that God is good and that it is man that is evil. Also, you never directly countered my point in saying that "there's suffering, therefore God doesn't exist" isn't a logical conclusion from the premesis. In fact, there's no basis to give a moral standard as an atheist because it comes from society and isn't absolute. What are the grounds of your moral standard? I'm just going to ignore the last paragraph because it's filled with lots of insults and Ad hominems. |
This is the most ignorant answer ever. Using childish notions to justify wanton murder is just pathetic. Good and evil? So apparently, those 5 year-old children and two pregnant women who were burned alive by US drone strikes died because God allowed Free Will which is good, right? If you agree, then we have nothing more to talk about. You're just a psychopath justifying murder for your magic happy land.

You should know about this, right? Skip to 2:00. A Yemenese man who grew-up and studied in an American university became a youth activist and went to the US Congress to describe what he saw from the drone strikes in Yemen. He witnessed the dead bodies of two children and two pregnant women who were so burned by the blast that it was hard to identify what was left of their bodies.
But you don't care. I already know your answer. You believe that you're a good person and that there's nothing you can do because of Big government, so you don't try because you think all you can do is love your family. Well then, you're not a good person, you don't really care because you do nothing, and if there is a God, then I assure you that you're going to hell for not standing up for humanity and actually caring about others outside your comfort zone.
Not that you'll listen. Good day.
