Not surprising. Given how long it took them to launch the card it's easy to see that it wasn't a priority for them, and if it even has problems then the best they can do is end it.

Personally, I don't bother with SLI/Xfire. With one single card the games will always work even with outdated drivers, but with dual (or more) cards, you can find a game that won't work. And then there's the micro-stuttering problems and the cost and power consumption.

I hope they launch the newer HD 9xxx series (rumors say that the 8xxx will be skipped as they are using it for rebarded OEM products) soon.
