It's not like DirectX 11.2 feature set can't or won't be possible to be achieved by other APIs... ¬_¬

OpenGL is never used for full price PC games, and I'm not aware of any other viable APIs.

The PS4's version of the API, for example, will have features beyond those available with DirectX 11.1.

That's not really accurate. Obviously if you address the hardware directly, there are plenty of card-specific features you can write on the shaders. This isn't viable on a PC.

The point of an API is a standard set of features common to all supported systems. The artificial segmentation of the DX11.2 features away from Win7 is not in the spirit of standards.

But tool kits are made available to other parties by Sony over time when they're available...

My point is that people shouldn't think that DirectX 11.2 being exclusive to Windows 8 and XBO is a big deal.
