Mhm, part of the reason is that I'm sick of low level jobs. I just want a more pro-active role where I'm actually in a leading position. I absolutely hate the idea of working 10-15 years or even 5-7 years before moving up in the world to a better position. I want it in 1-2 years because I'm sick of jobs where I have to take crap from others.

That's where you differ from others. Some people respect the fact that they have to struggle through several years of low-level jobs and/or schooling before getting into a more satisfying position. And for those that don't respect it, they accept it and deal with it, since the world is inherently unfair; complaining about it is a pointless waste of energy. So they do what they can because they find that the other beauties of life is a fair exchange for their dissatisfaction with their job. Perhaps you don't agree with this mindset, but at least now you know why some people "bother." I hope that answers your question.
