P2P is probably the worst thing when it comes to online gaming, bring on the dedicated servers (finally!) so we can get rid of that blight.

I can't entirely agree.  The problem with dedicated servers is that whatever game that is using them will eventually be shut down, after that point you will no longer be able to play multiplayer.  Also, 300,000 virtual servers isn't nearly enough to properly support all the regions that would need them for online multiplayer.  That's the good thing about P2P, multiplayer will always work, and there are plenty of host to choose from that are located locally.  When P2P is implemented properly it should work as good and in many instances better than dedicated servers.

All that said, I do hope that we will see a lot more games using dedicated servers because I think the pros mostly outweight the cons.

MS Azure cloud is already up and running well in countries scattered all across the world. they wont have to shut servers down because they have a flexible system that uses servers as needed. Its not dedicated as in 1 server in one location for 1 purpose. its dedicated in that its not P2P. their servers can be used for what ever, when ever. thats the benifit of having the second biggest and best cloud service as your backbone. it gives you all the options, and its all in place already, and its all used worldwide by business and government so it has good stablity and servers all over. Azure is a great cloud service, second only to Amazon cloud services.

I'm not trying to say that their cloud services aren't good, but no matter how powerful they are, they can't support dedicated servers for each game, and games will be phased out from dedicated server support, 300,000 virtual severs just won't cut it.  It will still be nice receiving more dedicated server support, but P2P isn't going anywhere, it is a very capable option when done right.
