I have an ipad 3 that's just collecting dust pretty much, the only occasion when it is used is when I go to shower and need some music. I think they're utterly useless medians, laptops are considerably better and more comfortable to use, and the consoles + Desktop PC's are a much better alternatives for gaming, if you're travelling alot, the phone games can rival those of a tablet essentially, well from my experience. I mean I have an ipad but I don't even know what games I would play it, since the selection is so lacksture and there are much better counterparts available on PC or consoles.
tl/dr; no, tablets will never rival that of the other stuff. I would still like to think that it's a hype that will essentially die down.
