All of those things are at an all time high actually. Purely because before 1800 there were less than a billion people on the planet, and the rates were never historically six times higher than now. |
Read Dangerous times by Christopher J. Fettweis.
Just the fact that there are so many more people makes your argument invalid. More people increases the number of anything. But per capita there are fewer murders, fewer rapes, fewer people starving etc.
I just seems that things are worse because we have such unfettered access to news and information. When was the last Pol Pot, or Hitler or Stalin or a war where there have been as many casualties of the entire conflict compared to WW1-2 or even Korea or Vietnam? When was the last plague? What is the number one health problem starvation or obesity (there are even obese people in the porrest of poor countries). As I said it isnt perfect it never will be but it really is a safer world than it has ever been at any other point in history. Especially the 1800s when the life expectancy was less than 50 years old in the best of places.
