It would take a huge market share out of any competitor. They would still be able to allow third party support from others while maintaining exclusivity on some of the biggest titles out there. No other console would be allowed to have NFL games on it, which is actually a pretty big deal. If they had scooped up Take Two by then, they'ed have an awfully hefty first party line-up.
GTA, Bioshock, 2K Sports, EA Sports, The Sims, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, Black, Burnout, Road Rash, Need for Speed, Mercenaries, Sabotuer, Army of Two, Dead Space, Boom Blox, and many others.
