Humans have many capacities shared with the animal kingdom such as scavaging, foraging, hunting, etc. etc. but we are unique in very substantial ways and to debase yourself the way animal would shows an ignorance not befit of even the lowest of creaures.

I can't "debase myself", because humans are the lowest of creatures. The only ones who possess the ability to destroy themselves and others for plain ignorance or hate. (You're right, we are unique because of this). We haven't learned with our "superior intelect" and "true emotions". For every step we make forward into technological, social and economical progress, we make two backwards. History can prove this.

So my comparison is fair. I am comparing humans with better creatures: dolphins. If dolphins can have, and enjoy, sex without matrimony, and they're a far better being than humans, why shouldn't we follow example?

Wow. Well with a thought process such as yours it's very hard to 'debate' as you seem very concrete in your thinking and that is very unfortunate. I think you have a very misinformed concept of the planet you occupy. Its just too bad that the advances in technology allow us to consume so much more bad news than ever before. Bad news and tragedy are reported on because of the very nature that it is unique and not normal. Who wants to sit around talking about boring old every day stuff.

At no time in history has there been less disease, hunger, poverty or even death and murder than today. Sure bad news happens and things aren't always rosey but as a point in history the world is a much better place. Which suggest contrary to your assertions that we are indeed learning. Again, it isn't perfect by any means (as we can never be perfect as long as we occupy the tent that is this world) but it is safer.

And that IS proved by history and data.

Lastly, if dolphins are the measuring stick for what is 'better or good' than perhaps you should run around killing for 'fun' as you put it? I know you wouldn't as I hope you think that would be wrong. But you see dolphins could never make that distinction.
