But they don't embrace it. Anime and the "otaku games" are not very big and often seen as for children. An older person is looked down upon for liking it just as much as they are in America if not more.

But the fact is, it's Legal to own child pornography in Japan. The age of consent in Japan is like 13 years old. What do 13 years old know anything about sex to make it legal at that age?  The only thing I can think is to make harder to prosecute rape cases.

 

Age of consent is determined on a regional level. The national age of consent is 13, but nearly every prefecture in Japan has laws that raises that bar to 18. Please continue though.

Ok I did some research and you are correct about that but there are some region with age of 15 and Tokyo is age 17. But it's still legal to own hardcore child pornography in Japan.
